PC Optimization
PC optimization, in simpler words, refers to the process of increasing the speed of your computer for a better and enhanced performance; just the way it was when it was newly bought. PC optimization becomes extremely necessary when your system has been in use for a couple of years and the hard drive has become loaded with lots of unwanted, junk files and folders which decrease the system speed. Also, the system’s registry might need to be cleaned and the hard drive might require a defragmentation at the earliest to prevent it from crashing all of a sudden.
In order to avoid any such hazard and to boost your computer’s speed and performance you can simply follow some of the below mentioned steps:
- Disk defragmentation: this is one of the simplest yet effective methods of computer optimization. This tool helps in cleaning up all the unwanted files and folders from your hard drive; thus increasing the available free space which in turns increases the computer speed.
- Saving hard disk space: this can be rather beneficial in boosting your computer speed and you do not have to follow some complex process to save hard disk space. Simply, lower the space used by the recycle bin to store your deleted files and folders. This can be done by right clicking on the recycle bin, selecting the properties option, then choosing Configure drives independently on the Global tab. This will help in reducing the size used by recycle bin on the hard drive and generate more free space.
- Deleting temporary files: this again is a very effective tool for PC optimization. All you need to do is delete the temporary internet files and cache, after browsing the internet every time. These temporary files take a lot of space and unnecessarily clutter the hard drive.
- Checking the Start Up programs: this is a simple procedure to optimize PC performance since the lesser number of programs in the Start up menu, the faster is the booting speed of the computer.
- Registry cleaning: though this is a bit complex process, yet if applied, it is indeed the most effective means of PC optimization. Registry is the space in your computer where all your hardware as well as software programs are stored; hence, the space occupied by those files is also quite a lot. Cleaning up the registry from time-to-time ensures that all the unwanted files and folders are permanently deleted from your system; but be sure of saving your necessary documents before cleaning the registry. You can edit the files in the registry by typing in regedit in the run dialog box at the Start-up menu.
- Disabling visual effects: this tool would not increase the computer speed to a very great extent, but it will definitely boost it to a sizeable amount. For doing this, you need to first right click on My Computer icon, select properties option and then choose the advanced tab. Then select the performance option, click on settings and disable some of the performance related options depending on your choice.
However, if you do not wish to follow any of the above-mentioned steps for PC optimization, then you can simply download any of the trusted Computer optimization software from the internet. This software would perform the same steps (and a few more) and is also free.
So, decide for yourself, which option you would like in order to optimize your PC and make it perform better for a longer period.
